The next 5 days will be spent in the tiny island city-state of Singapore. Singapore is a multi-racial city full of gigantic buildings, sweeping nature preserves, tons of money, and some of the best food in the world. It is also known for having some of the strictest laws in the world, with punishments often including caning (as well as the punishment for many drug crimes being the death penalty). You can’t chew gum, you must flush the toilet (police are known to enter public restrooms and check, potentially charging you with a crime), and the racial and religious harmony laws are known for being very strict.
The main ethnic groups in Singapore are the Chinese, Malay, Indian, Peranakan, and Eurasian. This provides an environment of incredible diversity as well as some amazing and diverse food.
We will do our best to avoid any caning over the next few days, while eating as much as possible.
