Next up on the list is Borneo. While technically, we will still be in Malaysia, we figured this deserves its own section. Borneo is the third largest island in the world and consists of three separate countries: Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei. Malaysia consists of peninsular Malaysia, many islands, and Borneo; Indonesia has many many islands; and lastly Brunei is entirely located in a small section of Borneo.
For our time here, we will first fly into a region of Malaysian Borneo named Sabah (specifically into a coastal town called Sandakan). We will only stay one night so we can be picked up to be brought first by bus and next by a boat down the Kanabatangan River into the middle of the jungle in Sukau.
Borneo is known for being one of the most biodiverse areas on earth, and has some extremely rare plants and animals. We will stay at a rainforest lodge for a few days and hopefully see some incredible wildlife!
